This Note -- Become a Fan!

4 Things I Hate About Facebook (I'd make it more, but that's overkill.)

1) TMI, TMI!

I've seen too many conversations like this one: "I have a stomachache and I'm soo tired." (Ok, that's fine, but wait...) A friend replied, "Perhaps you are pregnant," as did several others. She talked about how she didn't think so, and everyone kept telling her to check, and then, here's the kicker, she said, "Well, I can't be. I just had my period." -- Maybe I'm a girl, but that is a little too public, I'm sorry.

2) BECOME A FAN!

Do you ever look over on that sidebar of your home page and see those page suggestions for things of which YOU should become a fan? Things like, "Laughing" and "Eating" and "Enjoying the Sun on My Day Off From the Most Horrible Job Ever". My recent favorite was the one I saw today: "Become a fan of the page 'I hate slow computers'". Oh really? You do? I love when my computer is slow. Guess that's just me. Oh, and I hate laughing and receiving hour-long back massages.

3) Again, the sidebar. It really annoys me that you can't delete the things over there that you have no interest to see. For instance, two people I DON'T KNOW, that aren't even FACEBOOK FRIENDS (and that, my friend, is saying something), are getting married. And simply because two people (of my 300+ friends) have recently joined their engagement group, I am daily reminded of the fact that I really should join this group.

4) The next person that sends me a Farmville gift request, or a Sorority Sister request, or a MafiaWars App Request will simply be terminated as a friend. Who has the time for all of those games, anyway?! My friend Yvette and I were discussing how high-maintenance most of these games are. We both took a shot at joining Farmville until we discovered that you LITERALLY had to sign on and harvest your crops every 3-6 hours (depending on the crop itself) to keep the game from killing off your crops. Wait, wait, wait. Are there people out there who literally sit there all day and harvest and sell their virtual Farmville crops on Facebook? I guess so, because I get about 3-5 invites a day from that one application.

Of course, we all love Facebook and continue to use it, and please, no one say, "Well, if you hate it so much, why don't you delete your account?" Obviously, as Facebook truly is one of the only ways people communicate anymore, we all are sucked into the circular reasoning of why we have to continue our accounts. That said, there are several reasons why I do appreciate Facebook.

They just aren't as interesting.

Haha love the list and agree with your points! Except I recently started to play mafia wars... you don't have to kill someone every 3-6 hours though (unlike Farmville's harvesting)- when I go on FB, if I have a few extra minutes, I check out my mafia page, do a "job" or two (usually mugging lol) and then go on my merry way- but that is about it for applications I use on FB. I agree; it's a great way to stay in touch, but would be nice to be able to block more things, especially requests from certain "applications" that you will never ever sign up for!
